Not Anthony Bourdain? You still don't need reservations.

Most of you know I'm not an Anthony Bourdain fan. I loved his first book, "Kitchen Confidential," but all-things-Bourdain have gotten WAY out of hand since then. I will admit that his Travel Channel show, "Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations," is an occasional - very occasional - guilty pleasure and I did watch his Venice show shortly before coming here. He went to Locanda Montin and described it as the kind of place you'd go to eat like a local. So, of course, off we went tonight. A haute Bohemian hangout in the '50s where Peggy Guggenheim used to take famous painters, it retains it's very cool ambiance - outside tables are sheltered by a beautiful arbor. But the bloom is definitely off the kitchen rose (perhaps unless you're Anthony Bourdain). The food was no better than what you'd be served at any mediocre Italian restaurant in any American city. Such a disappoinment. Never mind. Tomorrow is another day - and another culinary adventure. At least one.
