Boy, I still have a lot of catching up to do. Bear with me.
I forgot to report on our first risotto of this trip - with fresh asparagus and shrimp at Trattoria da Fiore - NOT the fancy, expensive Fiore - a nice little neighborhood trattoria. The risotto was delicious.
I completely forgot to mention La Vogalonga - literally, it means "The Long Row" - and it took place this past Sunday. Hundreds and hundreds of oar-powered craft travel 20 miles around the lagoon in this annual event. It is non-competitive. Just rowers from all over the world out for a Sunday cruise.
General impressions - there is very little sign of the Biennale - so different from '07. Press previews begin on Thursday so I'll have much more to say after I've seen some art.
Venice is crowded - there is very little sign of a worldwide recession.
There is a lot more graffiti - almost sacreligious in this place.
I'm starting to post photos - with captions - and also links. I'm thinking that for now, the links will be Biennale related material. It's all down at the bottom of the page...
